Annual Conference
The Northeastern Girls Collaborative will host a variety of events for girl-serving organizations, educators, and business professionals throughout New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The collaborative's Kick-Off conference will be followed by girl-serving programs and organizations, educators and business professionals entering their information into the online program directory and collaborating to apply for mini-grant awards.
Once mini-grants are complete, the Northeastern Girls Collaborative will hold an annual conference. At this conference, grantees will have an opportunity to present their projects. Additional networking and professional development activities are offered at this event.
Kick-Off Event
About 50 people from throughout New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island attended our Kick-Off Event on Saturday, November 8, 2008. The day began with an inspirational presentation by female representatives of local robotics teams.
The first panel, “Best Practices” was presented by Pat Barss (Girls Incorporated), Tracey Jackson (Boys and Girls Club) and Amber Kleiman (Girl Scouts). They shared their experience working with and recruiting girls.
The second panel, “Collaboration” was presented by Connie Chow (Science Club for Girls) and Renee Fall (CAITE). Although collaboration is not always easy, Chow and Fall presented a number of helpful tips and hints regarding collaboration.
A forum was held at the end of the day to introduce participants to the Program Directory and announce the availability of mini-grants. To end the day, we raffled off a basket of software that was graciously donated by Microsoft.
